If you surf the web about the benefits of meditation, you will be instantly overwhelmed with the information you have at your fingertips. You might see between 7 and 23 different types of meditation practice techniques. Does that sound like a big task?

In this blog, I would like to share with you how I started to meditate, and how CBD helps to increase my enthusiasm to calm down.

At first, setting a realistic goal would be very helpful. Write down what you want to achieve with your meditation practice. Keep it to a maximum of two, even a single goal would be super cool, for a start.

Let me share with you how I started a meditation routine. My goal was to calm my emotions. They were often very impulsive. I felt like I was becoming a sensitive person. It took me just a few seconds to break down, laugh out loud, get angry or feel sorry for myself. Therefore, I wanted to calm down and take full control of this turbulent nature of my emotions.

I spent the next two weeks reading and downloading some great meditation readings from the internet, listening to podcasts of great philosophers and ancient meditation practice techniques, hours of audio and music for meditation, shopping for accessories including, carpets, linens, scented candles, etc, etc…once again a record-breaking overspend on budgets. Didn’t I tell you I’m a compulsive shopper?!

Everything was ready! I marked a day to start. I had in mind all the notes and information I had gathered while surfing the internet world. Eager to use all my newly purchased materials, on a good morning, I set to work. I listened to music, lit the candles and sat down in a comfortable position on my new mat. “What advantage?!” I said to myself. In the next few minutes, I went into a deep sleep.

I was quietly disappointed that I had slept through my first day of meditation practice. I got motivated, thought I’d be fine in a couple of days, but kept doing the same thing every day. I started off energetically but ended up sleeping.

I lost hope in myself! I considered myself unfit for meditation and quit.

This is the message I want to share with you. I guess I’ve prepared myself too much! Keep it simple. I don’t want you to make the same mistakes I did.

Meditation in simple words is a “state” of mind with a conscious focus. And this focus can be on anything. It could be just your breathing. Achieving this state of mind requires a stable body and mind first. A body that is absolutely relaxed and calm, a calm mind, without worries, without previous or later occupations, free of distractions.

It is an “art” of taking absolute control of your mind, assigning it to stay the way you want it to, and not letting it wander or drift aimlessly.

What does it take to reach this state of mind?

We must understand that we are the mind, the body and the soul. Each one of them needs to be handled differently in order to reach and maintain perfect synchronization between them.

The mind, in fact, is a little more complex to control. Therefore, we have to handle it very carefully.

The mind-body dualism

Indian, Buddhist and Western philosophy speak of the dualism of mind and body and share many similarities in thought. According to the Encyclopedia of Science and Religion.
